With more than twenty years of freshwater angling experience in the Southern Lakes, Dever leads focused alpine fishing expeditions aboard Chinook, a custom ten-metre luxury vessel specifically configured for sub-alpine lake conditions. Chinook operates year-round against the vertical backdrop of the Remarkables and surrounding ranges. The vessel is outfitted to target resident Chinook salmon alongside wild rainbow and brown trout, utilizing specialized downriggers and deep-water trolling techniques suited to Lake Wakatipu’s glacial depths. Charters range from efficient two-hour sessions through to comprehensive full-day explorations of the lake’s remote arms and tributary drop-offs. Guests receive personal guidance from Dever, whose technical understanding of seasonal trout and salmon movements ensures a productive, disciplined day on the water. The enclosed boat provides shelter and stability, making alpine angling accessible in varying high-country weather.
